Canada-India University Presidents' Round Table
Yesterday The Honourable Gary Goodyear, PC, MP Minister of State (Science and Technology) led a delegation of university presidents to New Delhi, India. The focus of their trip was to build on Canada's reputation as a top destination for research talent from India.
Canada currently ranks first among G7 countries in higher education research and development expenditures as a percentage of gross domestic product.

It is clear going forward that Canada and India will need more people with graduate degrees in the sciences and engineering to meet a stronger demand for S&T skills. We must continue to work together to increase our academic exchanges, strengthen our many ties and remain fixed on addressing the needs of the 21st century.
The opportunities for cooperation between Canada and India are there for the taking. I believe we have the wisdom and determination to see them through.
